Hello from Archie and Ms. Waters

Image
Hi friends, I hope everyone is enjoying their Spring Break. Staying safe, healthy, and active.  Archie and I have spent the last few days working on a puzzle, and I've been thinking about you all lots so I wanted to share with you what we have been doing. Archie isn't much help because he likes to nap most of the day, so I have also been face-timing my mum a lot because she is very good at puzzles.  If you are doing puzzles at home, I wonder.... Can you sort the puzzle pieces? According to shape, color, shade? Can you count your puzzle pieces? Group them by 10s, 5s, 2s? How many days does it take you to finish your puzzle? I've been working on mine for 3 days!! How long do you work on your puzzle everyday? Does the piece actually fit, or do you just wish it does? I get tricked sometimes too! Archie says Hi! If your mummies or daddies can help you, and you want to share what you have been doing at home, don't forget you can always email me! Love, Ms. Wa...

COVID-19 Social Story

Please continue to refer to the CBE websites for the latest updates, while we navigate these changes. Parents, Here is an excellent social story to share with your child that may help them understand a little more about Coronavirus, and the abrupt change to their daily routines.  It explains very simply why people get sick (germs), the importance of washing hands, addresses school closures, and most importantly ensures them that both their parents and teachers want them to stay healthy! https://www.flipsnack.com/KeshetChicago/coronavirus-social-story/full-view.html?fbclid=IwAR2ZpL8gBDu-RxV0WwopX9dWGAPtULbTDqr6De592ERDOf8zv7Ipf8pTdIk Thinking of you all, Ms. Waters

We miss you!

To all our students and families, Please continue to check the CBE website for updates on COVID- 19 and CBE procedures. While we take the time to adjust to this, and determine what the remainder of the school year might look like we have complied a list of **free** resources that you can access with your child. YouTube can  also be a great tool, and something that we use in our classroom. Please do not leave your child unsupervised while on YouTube. Our students love the "Number Rock" songs; for example:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4FXl4zb3E4 For movement activities and self- regulation indoors, we recommend Cosmic Kids yoga. They have numerous themed yoga videos, as well as breathing and self-regulation techniques:  https://www.youtube.com/user/CosmicKidsYoga Going outdoors is also a great idea. Social distancing does not mean we can not be outdoors if it is healthy to do so.  Have your children count rocks or make number groups, make patterns i...

Prairie Water Color Art

Image
Students this week worked on completing beautiful landscapes inspired by Alberta.  They included everything that makes prairie landscapes beautiful; such as, wheat fields, pastors, mountain ranges, and blue sky!  We also sent off some letters to other Canadian schools, telling them about where we live and what we like to do. We can't wait to hear back and learn about other Canadian communities.
