3D Shape Building

Grade 1s and 2s have been learning about different 2D and 3D shapes. This week they got to work using a variety of materials to build their shapes.

Students were heard using mathematical vocabulary such as:
"I need to add 2 more corners"- SL
"I am making a cube!"- HS
"It's a triangular pyramid!"- YD
"I made a pryramid, I think I know how to make a diamond"- DL
"I think I'll try to make a rectangle"- OK

They also were working together, sharing materials, and encouraging each other:
"Can I please use the tape when you're done?"- KJ
"If you come here I can help you"- SL
"That's okay, it's your first try"- SL
"Did you try making a circle and then putting up walls?"- YK
"Practice makes perfect, like my dad always says!" - MT
