Mapping Our Classroom

Image
Within our Social Studies curriculum, students have been exploring mapping- starting with the area we spend the most time in... our classroom!! We started by listing out the 11 most important things in our classroom- including everything from the doors and the desks, to the sink.  Students were then tasked with creating a "birds eye view" representation of our classroom using a variety of loose part manipulatives.  Ms. Anna and I were very impressed at the creativity of our Grade Ones and Twos!  When students were finished their maps, we referenced our checklist together and they self- assessed whether or not they remembered all of our important parts! Those who forgot some, now have an understanding of where they can improve at their second mapping attempt.  Check out some of our sweet maps! If you would like to see photos of your child on our classroom blog, make sure that you have signed and returned a Media Consent form ...
